Decoding College: What you need to know before orientation
Graduation and starting college is an exciting time! But here’s what no one tells you before the first day of school. Between orientation, finding a roommate, planning your major, and figuring out where you fit in on campus, it can also be a little overwhelming.
You worked hard to get here. Between late-night study sessions, rounding out your application with extracurriculars and volunteer opportunities, you should be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Now you’re on to the next part of your journey, and you don’t have to start it alone. In Decoding College, we’ll help you develop a road map to starting your freshman year strong.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
- New Student Orientation — What to expect and how to make the most of it
- Student Organizations — How to find your people and get plugged into campus life
- Academic Advising — What the process looks like and the questions you should be asking
- FERPA — What this law means for students and parents, and why signing a waiver might be the smartest thing you do before classes start
- Parent Services — How parents can stay connected and involved in meaningful ways
And more!
Whether you’re a student heading into your first semester or a parent supporting your kid on the next stage of their journey, we’ll give you a real, behind-the-scenes look at college life, straight from someone who spent 15 years working on the inside.
Come with your questions. Leave with a plan.
We’ve partnered with a number of high schools, giving back $25 of each ticket selected for that school. If your school is not on the list, it means we currently don’t have a partnership with that school. Select the “00- Other” option at checkout.
